Welcome Christy Spenle
This week we welcomed Christy Spenle, who commenced as Interim CEO of the PFRA on Monday, 17 August. With over 26 years of experience across Australia and the UK, Christy has worked on both the charity and supplier sides of fundraising and served on the PFRA Board from 2023 to 2026. Sponsorship Opportunities
Sponsorship opportunities for the 2026 PFRA Symposium are now open. Taking place on Thursday 22 October at UTS Aerial Function Centre in Sydney, the Symposium brings charities and suppliers together to explore benchmarking, payment trends, and the impact of AI on face-to-face fundraising, closing with the End of Year Drinks and 2026 PFRA Award announcements. Speaker Spotlight – Phoebe Duggan
We’re pleased to welcome Phoebe Duggan, Manager at Justice Connect’s Not-for-profit Law service, as a speaker at the PFRA Symposium 2026. With over 15 years’ experience across the not-for-profit and private sectors, Phoebe will present on Privacy and Legal Considerations with AI.
2026 Award Nominations
Nominations are now open for the Field Fundraiser of the Year Award and the F2F Champion Award, recognising outstanding contributions to face-to-face fundraising. Nominations close Thursday, 17 September, so if you’re considering nominating, now’s a great time to get your submission in.
PFRA Guide – Mystery Shopping
Mystery shopping was raised as a topic of interest at the recent User Group Meeting, and this guide is a reminder of the key steps for monitoring and maintaining compliance standards across your fundraising activity. It sets out best practice for planning, conducting, and reporting on mystery shopping exercises.

Over July we recorded 10 breach free reports, which is a great result for the month.
